Next Door has long been a staple in New Haven’s culinary scene, but like many other local businesses, it had to pivot during the pandemic. So it closed the doors to its brick-and-mortar location and relied on a food truck and takeout to stay afloat. After the brief hiatus, Next Door is back in business at its original permanent location, and you’re welcome to come in and dine!
Gather a few friends or come in with your significant other to enjoy a craft beer or a glass of wine with comforting apps like garlic knots, house-made meatballs, or spicy honey Brussels sprouts served with whipped goat cheese. Then warm up with some of the curried butternut squash soup or the crustless chicken pot pie. Want to share a salad? The Big Green Truck salad—named in honor of Next Door’s partner during its time as a food truck—comes family-style, as does the classic Caesar. They both pair nicely with pasta or a sandwich, but the artisan pizzas are really the main event. Build your own or let the pizza chefs construct a specialty pie like the spicy meatball or white clam.
