If there is one thing you have to love about living in New Haven, it’s the plethora of real Italian food. With that comes decadent Italian pastries like those served at Lucibello’s Italian Pastry Shop. It’s unassuming on the outside but they make the most wonderful, authentic Italian sweet treats. Keep it our little secret! Family owned and operated by the Faggio family since the late 1920s, everything is made with love and secret family recipes that have been passed down for generations.
If you’re not sure what to get, ask for recommendations or you can go with the tried-and-true favorites. The first is the chocolate chip cannoli, which is sweet, but not too sweet, with ricotta cream and a crunchy shell. The other favorite is the sfogliatelle which is a cream-filled pastry with many buttery layers surrounding it, similar to a French croissant in a more triangular shape. You can’t go wrong with any of the cookies either!
Lucibello’s Italian Pastry Shop is most well-known for its zeppoles that they whip up for St. Joseph’s Day on March 19 each year. Mark your calendars now so you don’t miss out on the tradition!
